The ONWARD Compé ’11 saw a dramatic increase in international participation with submissions coming in from over 20 countries. ONWARD Compé ’12 will continue to broaden its reach to include a diverse array of artists from around the globe. This year we are translating even more of the submission materials into Japanese. This will allow for even greater participation and dialogue between a growing international photography community.

The ONWARD Compé serves as a vehicle that pushes photographers from around the globe to interact, take part, and recognize what others are doing to push the medium in new directions. In addition to the Compé, ONWARD continues to grow in new ways, and 2012 is the first year for the ONWARD Summit, which will coincide with the ONWARD Compé ’12 exhibition opening in Philadelphia. We hope this very special event will bridge even more gaps and bring together this global photography community.
