Where Are They Now: Jason Rusnock

Jason Rusnock, X'd Windows

ONWARD Compé has featured over 200 selected photographers over the years and we’re getting back in touch with some of them to find out what they’ve been up to. Many of the photographers who are selected are at different points in their photographic journeys, from university students to working professionals.

We caught up with ONWARD Compé ’09 selected photographer and Philadelphia resident, Jason Rusnock to speak with him a bit more about his experience with ONWARD:

Jason Rusnock, "Untitled" from the ONWARD '09 exhibition.

Being involved with ONWARD helped me better understand my own work.  I was just starting college [at the time] and, though content with what that was teaching me, felt I was also making progress with my independent work.  Having my photos part of such a great group show gave me the confidence to keep progressing and doing what I was doing.

Aside from the assignments I was doing in school, I was also taking lots of photos outside of class for fun. The photographs I submitted for ONWARD weren’t really part of a project at the time. The ones I was happy with and confident in, I kept together and submitted to a few different things – one of them being ONWARD.  The chosen image ["Untitled"], that a lot of people seemed to like, was of a shirt in my backyard.  Now that I think about it, that photo means a lot to me.
