West Collection Purchase Award

Pierfrancesco Celada

ONWARD Compé isn’t just a single exhibition or event; it seeks to find more and more opportunities for the photographer, year in and year out. For the second consecutive year, The West Collection Purchase Award offers one of the selected photographers the opportunity to have their work become a part of the renowned West Collection.

This is an excellent chance for photographers to have a piece in one of the premier contemporary art collections in America. The West Collection is focused on developing relationships with young artists whose work is both challenging and inventive and we’re happy to have them offer the purchase award to an ONWARD Compé ’12 selected photographer.

Curator Page West has been making use of her keen eye since the mid-90’s by procuring work from the brightest young artists for the collection, which is largely on display at SEI Investments in Oaks, Pennsylvania. The West Collection is dedicated to lending their holdings to museums and galleries, ensuring that their collection is shared with the public. They also host monthly artist visits and discussions related to the collection.

Last year, Pierfrancesco Celada‘s piece “The Phone, Tokyo” was selected for The West Collection Purchase Award. You can find out more about his work in an interview we did with him at the ONWARD ’11 opening in Tokyo in May, 2011.
